Best Doggone Dog in the West
Dear Baby Waider,
One of the most common questions I've been asked since having you has been, "How does Mia like her?" Mia, as I discussed in previous posts is our beloved Newfoundland mix dog. She was our baby before you came along. We actually got Mia before we were married! We've had her for 7 years. Mia was mama's jogging partner before she was pregnant and mama's couch partner when she was pregnant with you. She's always happy to see us and requires so little for all that she gives us. Dad loves Mia's kind heart and that she is such a good friend. She always listens and has been on many many hikes with us. She's pretty special to us so we were hoping the two of you would get along.
Here are some pics of you and Mia during your first meeting. You were fresh home from the hospital and Mia was really excited (mostly to see mom and dad) that we were home from the hospital. Thankfully Mia has done a great job of tolerating you. Tolerating makes it seem like she's not crazy about you. Truth is you are a little loud for her and you do take up lots of mom and dad's time! She hates when you cry and begs mom and dad to make it stop! I think she went four months without a walk and yet never complained. She was left outside for several cold nights because we forgot about her. Mia has become a pretty tough cookie. The good news for you and Mia is that soon you will be having food on your high chair. I have no doubt that you will throw tons of snacks to Mia. She's never really had table scraps so it will be a big treat for her...Which reminds me that we are going to have to up those daily walks for Mia. Soon Mia will think you are pretty doggone cool. br />
Recently you "discovered" Mia. You absolutely adore her! When you see her your whole face lights up. You love to play on the floor with Mia right next to you chewing her bone. You love to watch her run in front of your stroller on our walks and roll around in the yard. Mia can entertain you longer than your dad or I can. You have already found the joy in Mia that we've experienced for years. She is your first dog and you are so lucky to know her because she's one of the best. My hope is that you and and Mia have lots of good years left together. Many walks, hikes, and cuddles on the couch.
You and Mia when you were teeny tiny.
Love always,
Mama

Brandon just recently discovered Oakley and Mya too. When they're moving around, he's always watching them and loves to touch them. He starts laughing when they play together! It's so fun to watch them with the dogs :)
